The Gig Harbor Peninsula Historical Society is a not-for-profit dedicated to preservation of maritime and local history of the Gig Harbor area, located in the southern part of Puget Sound near Tacoma. The organization owns and operates the Gig Harbor Heritage Center, which features several maritime related exhibits. It also owns the Shenandoah, a fishing vessel built in Gig Harbor in 1925.
